We got to travel to Moab!!! What a great adventure this was. We drove down with Spencer and MK and spent the weekend hiking, tubing, getting burned, cooking, sleeping under the stars and loving the time together. Was I lucky or what to marry a river guide!!! James is amazing at camping gear, cooking in dutch ovens, paddling and navigating a river…he is just one amazing guy! We love the red rock of Southern Utah. James got to go to Arches for his first time ever! This was a great trip worth repeating!

Kirk Richards and the Young Women

One of my greatest of all dreams was fulfilled this week. While on my mission I would go through the church magazines and find pictures for people learning about the church. A discovery was made as I kept leaning towards certain pieces of art work….Kirk Richards is one of the most amazing church artists ever! Each time I would flip the through the pages of the magazines I would say, “That’s a Kirk Richards…that’s a Kirk Richards…” Well, this past Tuesday for our Young Women’s Activity we went to the very Kirk Richards studio here in Utah. It was an amazing experience and a wonderful opportunity. Art is incredible to me. The talent and skill it takes to transform flat canvas and paint into a dimensional world is just fascinating!

A Footpath to Success!!! This was the HURRAY to James for finishing finals and a Happy 2 month Anniversary! I sure LOVE HIM! It’s amazing to think that we have been married for two months and soon it will be 2 years and on and on  and on. We are very grateful for one another!!! Each even month anniversary I am going to do something special for him. I love even numbers and so that is the reason for only even months.

Quote

“I would like to invite each of you to do at least one Samaritan-like act this week. It may require that you reach beyond your usual friends or overcome your shyness. You may courageously choose to serve someone who doesn’t treat you well. I promise that if you will extend yourself beyond what is easy to do, you will feel so good inside that kindness will start to become a part of your everyday life. You’ll see that benevolence can bring joy and unity to your home, your class, your ward, and your school. “Remember this: kindness begins with me.” ~ Mary N. Cook

My Newest Hairdo and a Greater Respect For Moms!

I just got to watch four adorable kids full time for a full week! This was one favorite moment; getting my hair done by a 3 year old. We had so much fun together. We made cakeballs, a huge fort, green macaroni, leprechaun traps, messes. We went to see a troll, got muddy, ran around lots, saw trees wearing sweaters, made crafts and rode horses. We laughed lots. We ate lots. We didn’t sleep lots. We had a chandelier fall from the ceiling. Nobody died. And we got everything back to normal for mom and dad before they came in from Hawaii. We had a GREAT week.

I want to hand it out there to all MOMS!!! It is a lot of work to keep schedules organized, be a taxi, a constant restaurant, a fixer of fights, a kisser of owies and a nightly tucker-in-er. I had so much fun watching these kids and it gave me even more respect for the role of a mother. I am grateful for my own mother and her incredible example! And for a good sister to look up to as a mother to our nephew. There are so many great mothers in this world!!

THANKS to MOMS!

blah blah blog!

I have an old apple shirt that says “Blah Blah Blog – iWeb part of the new iLife ’06″ . When I first read it I thought I would never run a blog. Now nearly 7 years later I am super excited to be sharing my love story with Carolyn through this blah blah blog. We have many plans and dreams that will be shared in this digital diary. Hope you enjoy taking part in some of our great memories.

New Beginnings

We are so excited to be starting a new chapter in our lives!

The story begins with a boy and girl. Both a little shy. The boy loves to “geek out” the girl like to have “pretend time.” The stage was set and the two lived their lives practically right next door to one another. But their hearts did not know yet how close they would become.

Years have gone by and the boy is now a man, the girl a woman. Each lived out their young adult lives active and involved in many things. The woman went to college and studied the arts. The man worked hard and took great care of his family. Each served a mission for the Lord. Adventures were had. Then the two began to take notice of one another. Letters upon letters were written between the two. Rivers were run. Swings were swung on. And love began.

The dating chapter was short but sweet. The man was ready the woman needed time. But not too much. Soon the man knelt and a ring was given. WOW. The years do fly and the short story book soon becomes a chapter book. In just a manner of a few days (52 to be exact) this boy and this girl will be married in the Salt Lake City Temple. To bring the love that lasts forever into each others lives.
