12 Days, Two: Filtered Fun

Alrighty, for day TWO of the twelve days of Christmas I wanted to share these awesome craft projects that are super cheap! I don't drink coffee but man are the filters versatile. You can use them for so many things, and especially crafting. I've seen people make wreaths, flowers, dye them and all sorts of amazing things. I have discovered two favorites for the holidays! Making snowflakes and winter trees! Coffee filters are sold at our $Dollar Store for just a buck and so these projects are practically free, and hey who doesn't like a free piece of decor?

I love that they are white! That is a color we may not think of at Christmas when our focus can be red and green. But white is my favorite Christmas color. It is clean, pure, crisp and vibrant. White reminds me of the sweetness of a perfect child. It makes me think of the first blanket of snow that covers the ground. White is such a symbol of peace, and that is Christmas. It is a time when we celebrate the prince of peace and a time when we get to cozy inside our homes from the peaceful coldness outside. I love white!

I hope you get to try out these fun crafting table ideas. Hey are so easy and inexpensive. I have snowflakes all over our home now and I am just waiting for a nap time long enough so I can make some of those beautiful trees! Happy 12 days!!

Pompom Tube

Entertaining little little little ones while staying sane sometimes seems impossible at times. They seem to need some sort of attention at every moment and I don't like to just shove Jane in front of shows or iPad games so I have to get creative. Cardboard has proved to be the best tool on earth!!! I have made play kitchens and houses out of oversized boxes and little craft projects to. But the best discovery came this week as I finished a roll of wrapping paper. Jane has a jar of pompoms that she can play with and they are all sorts of colors. I poked a bunch of holes in the tube and drew corresponding colors to her fuzzy balls on them. It was so fun to watch her sort colors into these holes and say the color. She had a ton of fun swinging it around and watching them fly to ;)!

If you need a cheap and fun way to entertain your little ones watch what you are throwing away, it can be some of the best entertaining out there.

Home Plate

We have had this old decrepit address plate attached to our home and I've dreamed of fixing it up since our first day of living here. But the best laid plans sometimes take years to get done. But this summer I started this great DIY project and today it was finally hung. From leftover wood from the chicken coop, paint from our door, new fresh numbers and some plants from the $1 Store I know have an address plate that proudly displays our home. My mister man helped get it up and I'm so pleased with it. I love striving to have a welcoming entrance to a home. My mom used to have a little lantern in our front porch that often had a welcoming light shining in it to greet you at night. I love candles in windows to. In a quaint town in Pennsylvania named Lititz many of the homes had candles in all their windows at night. A tradition of being a welcoming home. I love that symbol. I hope that my porch and home always feel like a welcome spot. Now with this fun new address plate I hope it will be more so. I still have a lot of work to do on our home but this was a wonderfulIy awaited DIY project to get done.
