Gratitude #3. My Blog.
I have been ever so grateful for the decision I made to keep a family blog. There was a time when I used to journal everyday. And then when I got married and kids came along that good habit quickly diminished. With busy schedules, full days, nursing babies...I could not seem to find the time to journal anymore. Then I realized that during the hours of nursing each day I would surf the web, go on Pinterest or hop on Facebook where I could idle away endlessly. I made the decision that instead I would make sure I had tried to blog about our little family before I just went on my phone to explore. It has been a huge blessing and something I know treasure. Keeping a history of my family, sharing thoughts on faith, putting up recipes and more is what makes up my blog. There will be a day when I can also add a little etsy shop as well.
Using social media to do these important things has opened my eyes even more to the importance of using our internet time for things of worth. Not filth or idleness. Recently a member of the twelve apostles of Jesys Christ posted this;
"As you find yourself scrolling through your news feed, I invite you to consider how you are using social media to build meaningful relationships and share your faith in the Savior. Let me be clear: there is nothing inherently wrong with using social media. In fact, many good and positive things can and do occur when social media is used in edifying ways. However, please also remember that the Lord has commanded us to “not idle away thy time, neither shalt thou bury thy talent that it may not be known.”
So how do we know if we are using social media in appropriate ways? I would suggest that asking these two questions can help us to know:
1. Is my use of social media impeding or inviting the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost in my life?
2. Does the time I spend on social media restrict or enlarge my capacity to live, love, and serve in meaningful ways?
Prayerfully pondering these questions will invite inspiration and instruction from the Holy Ghost suited to your individual circumstances and needs."

I am so thankful for the time I get to spend blogging. There will be a day when it will hopefully bless my posterity, and I hope it touches the lives of those who read as well. Like you :)!
