I absolutely love this quote from dear President Hinckley. He may possibly be one of my favorite men to walk this earth. He was a true example of a twinkle in your eye! This quote brings so much joy to my heart because it is the feelings I share and self motto I live by. In college I was quoted as saying, "I love Life!" It was in reference to what my favorite cereal was, but then it really stuck as my lifetime motto. I truly do love life. There is so much to behold, so much to learn, to experience, to love, to serve, to do.
Life is beautiful. And yes it's got it's downs, every path does. But those downs allow appreciation for the ups and teach us great lessons. What you dwell on and seek out in life is what your life will be. If you choose to have an Eyore cloud above your head you will have an Eyore life. And might I add that Eyore was still loved. Even those who choose to be grumps are still loved by family and dear friends. But their outcome of life could be much richer if they would "accentuate the positive" and strive to not seek out storms. When one dwells on the wrongs of life they pass up seeing all the blessings and great goodness in their lives. It becomes a canker to happiness.
I choose to strive to love life even when wrongs are made and storms rage. This does not mean I don't have hard days or moments of "why me!" But it does mean that I do not let them ruin my today's and carry into my tomorrows. We are taught to forgive others, to endure and to strive to put off the natural man. All these teachings are to help insure a happier life. Our Heavenly Father wants us to be happy. That is His entire plan for us! And so if we will follow His teaching and strive each day to live by this great quote we will, WILL, be happier in life. And in eternity.
